Soft Verges is a newly conceived performative sound-art installation by cellists Leanne Zacharias and Ariadna Ortega Torres, both of Brandon. This modular adjacent installation involves a series of sonic and visual stations that act as modules in a grand structure: a Count to Five pedal connected to a vocal mic, a prepared cello lying on its back, a theremin, a pendulum metronome amplified via contact mic, an overhead projector and a prepared grand piano. Each station when activated by the performers will contribute to a grand drone-based soundscape that is partially improvised while also exploring predetermined combinatorial relationships.

Soft Verges will take place in the Kinsmen Rehearsal Hall at the B.U. School of Music as a sonic appetizer to the Friday Evening Showcase concert.
